In this segment, we take a look into the wonderful world of Mets fan art...
"A Series of Stars" by Rick Rush Art (2008)
In this piece, we see Derek Jeter jumping over Mike Piazza in an attempt to turn a double play. Most scholars place this painting in the "Sports Fantasy" genre (not to be confused with the more obscure "Sports Fantasy Camp" style), because of its suspension of reality. To wit: Jeter's posture and grip of the ball tell us that he's not going to be making the throw to first base. We all know that, in reality, Piazza and his steroid-fueled carcass have never gotten down to second base fast enough to break up a double play, no matter how slow the grounder.
