Looks like the mystery of Johan Santana's strange sleeves has been solved. It seems Johan likes his jersey sleeves extra loose, so he stretched out them out by hand, causing the piping to fray. New jerseys with 1" more room in the sleeves have been ordered. We can all rest a little easier now that this mystery has been solved.
